Love More Books

It's true.
We do judge a book by it's cover. All the time.
I know I do.
We always look to see if the cover is sophisticated enough, beautiful enough, funny enough, artistic enough, thrilling enough, brilliant enough for what we're looking for.
If the cover doesn't tell us enough, we scan the back, and read it half-heartedly, as if it could really give us a sense of the complete package.
Or we ask someone else, someone who couldn't possibly have all the same views on life as we do. Someone who maybe hasn't even read the book, but heard about it once, or read a review.
If our curiosity is awakened, but we're still not ready to commit to the book, we flip through it, or read the first paragraph, knowing that this could never be adequate judgment as to what the book is all about.
Why do we feel such a need to know so much about a book before we accept it?
What if we walked into a book store and committed to the first book we picked up, the first book we saw? What if we committed to reading that book all the way through, and then again and again? What if we could love a book for the writer's talent and didn't judge so harshly for any short-comings, or for plot-twists that turn out differently than how we would have written them?

We would have a library full of well-loved books.

Our society says we would be smarter, happier people if we read more books. I say we would be wiser if we loved more books.

It's like Larry Moore said.
It's time we started practicing the law of inclusion.

You are deep. Its insane. I love books too. I'll admit as much as I try not to, I do judge books by the cover. I try to see the good in books, but sometimes their cover just makes it to hard

Do you ever think about the person who made the cover? Why they chose that particular cover, with that particular artwork? What is the functionality of the cover? Is it to protect or is it to appeal? Why is that some covers have nothing at all to do with the story inside? Some books look awesome and inspiring... but really they are shallow and boring... other books look tattered and abused and really disgusting... but then they are awesome... like the most amazing book you have ever read! It draws you in... has a real plot and... well... character... you just can't leave it alone... you want to spend your every waking moment with that book... but you don't becuase you know it will always be there for you to pick up and read... you want to rush through to the end... yet you want to savour every part of it... I love books... although I do need to admit that I do judge a book by its cover sometimes... even though I don't want to... yeah... I really need to read more books... give more books a chance... but anyways... this isn't my blog it is a comment... so I shouldn't write a novel here!
