2006
Wow. Last January seems like so long ago. Let me see if I can do this. Add anything important that I forgot!
In 2006:
*I brought in the New Year in the usual fashion. New Years at Grandma's with all the 'tives.
*I hugged the Canadians and headed off to the airport
*MJ and I flew home and were picked up by Davie, Julie, and--?
* I started a second (and main) job working at K-Lair and the Lemon Tree
*January Rain was created and was named a big hit amongst the friends
* I met Ben and Jason, among other interesting characters at K-Lair
*Open stage events became less frequent as I started doing Fuel on a more regular basis
*Coffee House was lots of fun and was a big success. Liliane introduced us to "the Canadian dance", and Nick surprized us with a heart-felt version of Stairway to Heaven
*Lost once again took over our lives, and parties continued to be held at Topher's
*Many games of cards were held, and Julie and Jenni kicked butt in Dutch Blitz
*Lady's retreat brought with it my first trip to Louisville.
*Mom and Aunty visited and we went to a UK game, decked out in matching shirts
*Mom and dad came down for the opera, and a group of us had a blast playing Hoopla at Chuck's house (dad riding a camel -- priceless)
*Spring break in New Orleans was amazing. I noticed an immediate growth in Davie. We were all changed for the better.
*I learned that army cots are light-weight and that when yours in on the end, you should not attempt to steam roll anyone
*Julie and I became really close
*a Praise and Worship CD for Fuel was undertaken (edits are being done in the New Year!)
*I moved rooms -- all the way down the hall!!! and acquired a new (and wonderful) roomie!
*Davie rescued me from many would-be walks home in the rain
*Summer holidays were spent teaching the Minis and Expressions, which was an amazing and rewarding time
*Fun times were once again had on Canadian soil: picture-taking all over Saskatoon with Ther and Bob, Canada Day with Bob, Shan, and Nick
*The summer was filled with special American visitors: Julie came and we took in the jazz festival and the Berry Barn. Travis came and a group of us went to a (mosquito infested) drive-in movie. Chuck came and shared our common birthday; we went to the fringe festival
*I turned 23- yikes!
*a fair-sized portion of nights were spent on MSN, getting to know a new friend -- and maybe something else?
*My 100th song was written
*Some recording was done on Canadian soil
*September brought with it a new full-time position at work for me
*Fall retreat was amazing and beautiful. From hiking to mountain climbing to a heart stretched wide-open to God, we all did things we never thought were possible
*Halloween brought out some scary folk: Bill the Cowboy, some Who's and a Grinch, SuperNess, a lovely Opera Lady, Snow White, a Petland worker, and of course, a funloving Mexican who may or may not have had a legal greencard.
*The status "friends who are preparing to date" was introduced
*I started singing jingles
*Many amazing times were had at Fuel and around the WF. The Holy Spirit begun to break down walls and change us all for better
*a few of us WF girls posed for a picture which ended up introducing an article in an international Methodist magazine
*American Thanksgiving was spent with Megan and her family. Lots of food was eaten, it was decided that John Tucker Must Die, and our Feet got reeaal Happy, pa! And black squirrels are pretty. So there.
*It snowed exactly two mornings on the way to work, but was gone within a couple of hours
*The WF students passed all of their exams with flying colours and plenty of prayer
*An amazing time was had at a Canadian friendship reunion and gift exchange at Earl's (and beyond!)
*Ness once again had a great time laughing at Zeth falling through snowbanks
*11 months after its creation, January Rain (among others) was once again sung on stage by MJ and Ness at a local club
*Ness showered for the last time in 2006.
