Americana!!

Yesterday Jason and Ben (two friends from work) took me out for catfish. They figured I couldn't go home for the summer without ever having tried it. We then went to a movie, came back to the WF for cards with some WFers, after which the gang of us went out to Waffle House (which I had never been to before), to have Vanessa try her first bowl of grits. The pecan waffles were incredible, I might add.
I am being Americanized!!
Tonight (soon actually) I am going over to Julie's family house to have my first Easter away from home. I'm sure that Janet (Ju's mom) is going to totally spoil the Canadians - all three of us, for Liliane is coming too!- and mark my words, at midnight o'clock, sharp, I am having a large dosage of chocolate, come-what-may.

Oh my beloved, beloved chocolate!
How I pine for thee night and day!
What a wonderful moment it will be when once again you can melt in my arms
As I recite your pleasantries and woo you the way a good chocolate product deserves to be wooed.
How your absence in my life has created a void that can only be filled with a bunny.

Awaiting our moonlit rendevous,
PiningNess

Mystery Character

Have you ever had a dream about someone -- a friend or maybe a boyfriend -- a dream where you talk together, laugh together, maybe cry together, maybe even kiss -- and woken up to realize you don't know who that person is?
The aftermath is that in wracking your brains, trying to remember what about the person was so familiar, you feel robbed of a friendship, robbed of a relationship that has never existed unless somewhere in your subconscious... somewhere in your dreams or your memories or your future...

And like the golden acorn of the Ice Age, the memory slips away as you focus to keep it clear, and you're left with a kind of resentment of being robbed of yet another could-have-been...

Or maybe it's not highway robbery, the insensitivity of your own punishing brain. Maybe it's a promise. So maybe you should hold tight to mystery man, remember the good times of the past, and wait patiently and faithfully for the promise of this return.

...Plus the internet was down.

Part 1
Party Party!!

Yay! I'm not dead! I didn't fall off a cliff somewhere!!! Okay, so you want to know about my trip to New Orleans, right?
Well if you don't then go away. Or just skip down to part two.

Ok... so... This is some of us lovely ladies in our work clothes. The row of yellow behind us is not a figment of your imagination. It is a row of porta-potties. Lots and lots of them. There were over 2000 collage-age kids staying in a warehouse that was fondly named "Light City", or as the WF'ers liked to call it (just to be different), "City of Light."

So 2000 people have to sleep somewhere...
Picture five rooms bigger than what you see here with wall to wall cots. Yep. Stunning accommodations, I know. You should have seen the tent-showers.
--------------------------------------------------

Our main task while in New Orleans and surrounding area was to gut houses. Gutting means you take all the insides out. Furniture, personal belongings, and dry-wall, all of which were ruined, were thrown into a giant junk pile which a dude driving a crane-type thingy would come to pick up at a later date. We heard some amazing stories and met some incredible people.

The last day was spent in Florida at the Gulf of Mexico. It was beautiful out, and Julie, my red-headed never-had-a-tan-in-her-life darling was the only one who managed to NOT burn, by reapplying her 50 sunscreen every hour.

Part 11
Let's Catch Up, Shall We?

Well, I'm playing at an open stage on Wednesday, and a coffee house on Friday. I gave myself the day off tonight decided to have MJ lead Fuel so I don't have to play. Work is getting harder as my tasks increase - my supervisors found out I'm smart and now I'm doing big-people's work, tee hee. But life is soooo good. I love my home and my friends here, and I will be in Canada in June. Specific dates are yet to be worked out, but I can't wait to see and hear from you'all!

I have opened up my HOT OFF THE PRESS website to all!! To view my newest song-lyrics, (and others that I've written since I moved), click on "I like to stalk myself?" under my Stalk List. You can now view and comment on any of the posted lyrics!

Closing comments:

Today I smell like a sandwich.

Man... I look like a water-a-holic! I'm holding a water bottle in both of those pictures... Of course, little do you know that I've changed my hair again, and it doesn't even look like that anymore...
It's blue-black with light brown streaks.
